  • "Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing is inspired by the painting style of Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun, specifically his piece titled “Fish Farmers” (2014). The character in my painting is a man of money and power, someone that would be described as “sitting at the top of the food chain”, most likely a member of parliament or provincial government. His sheep-skin jacket portrays him as a man of the people, but his hunger and greed have led them astray. His head is a Salish ceremonial wolf mask, which symbolizes family unity, fidelity, cunning, and hunting prowess. He sits comfortably fed and smoking a cigar in his sheep-skin jacket.
