Wolf in Sheep's Skin (16"x20')
"Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing is inspired by the painting style of Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun, specifically his piece titled “Fish Farmers” (2014). The character in my painting is a man of money and power, someone that would be described as “sitting at the top of the food chain”, most likely a member of parliament or provincial government. His sheep-skin jacket portrays him as a man of the people, but his hunger and greed have led them astray. His head is a Salish ceremonial wolf mask, which symbolizes family unity, fidelity, cunning, and hunting prowess. He sits comfortably fed and smoking a cigar in his sheep-skin jacket.
